- I've gotten this message exactly the same way, and I found that my modem
- defaults, upon powerup, to thinking there is a carrier signal (the CD
- light is on) because I told it to ignore everything and just trust me.
- (This way it never hangs up unless I tell it to.) You can change the
- settings on your modem and save them as defaults. The string "&D2" might
- work, but check your manual, I'm not totally sure.
